History

The Eveline Day Nursery Schools have been established for over 41 years and were founded first as a Creche with Maria Keaveney-Jessiman as Principal in 1964 and in 1965 expanded to a Day Nursery when a partnership was formed with her husband Alfred Jessiman. The Company was formed in 1970 when both Maria and Alfred became Directors of the Company. Terry Larche (Mrs Keaveney-Jessiman's sister) joined the Company in 1971 as Deputy.

The Eveline Day Nursery Schools are family run: Our daughter Eveline is our Day School Educational Director and our son Gordon is our Facilities Director.

Maria Keaveny-Jessiman became interested in the care of the under 5's in the sixties after the birth of her daughter Eveline, hence the name "EVELINE" Day Nursery Schools. In those early years there were few nurseries and very little day care facilities available. This was an anxious and worrying period principally because of attitudes and the stigma attached to the working mother. Eveline trained to be a Teacher, worked for eight years as a Teacher in Paris and has always managed very successfully to incorporate her family life with her work: she has run the Eveline Day School since 1990.

When did we open our Nursery Schools:

1964 - Huron road (Closed in 1974 when it moved to Ritherdon Road)

1970 - Trinity Crescent Nursery which became Eveline Day School in 1989

1974 - Ritherdon Road branch

1974 - Seely Hall branch, Chillerton Road

1985 - Geraldine Road branch

1997 - Quicks Road branch

2001 - Grand Drive branch
